Although its written tongue-in-cheek, …I feel like commenting on this bit.
As with all previous posts, the intent of this phrase was comedic/poetic in nature, but I actually do imagine there are excellent [well-meant] legislators dotted here & there…facing direct opposition, at all times, from more financially seeded lifer politician sorts (to say the least.)
At my age I want to suppose there’s some credence to [green] government integrity. If not, then what's left but to take to the hills.
