Icon Windows Vista Question (with apologies)

I can't seem to find the information I am looking for. On the Microsoft sites, everybody seems to be talking about far more dire problems with Vista than the one I'm having, so I guess I should be thankful. I wonder if anyone here can help me figure this out.

The problem is, Windows Vista seems to be an extremely drowsy Operating System. It will go to sleep, and it won't wake up, forcing me to do a hard boot. Sometimes I end up having to do the hard boot half a dozen times in a single day. Something tells me this will eventually cause the machine to go all squirrelly.

Unhelpful answers are welcome too, if they make you feel good.

For example:

"I know what the problem is . . . you shoulda bought a MAC!"

Or,

"Why aren't you using the Ubuntu OS? Give it a try, since it's free!"

Heck, even a return of the giant lizard conspiracy theory might at least be entertaining. How might computer problems be connected to the lizardine threat? Well, they do call it a computer MONITOR, after all! (Get it? Monitor lizard?)

Seriously though . . . anyone know how to stop Vista from nodding off & refusing to awaken?
