Points well taken, Ross, but I don't agree. I don't see how the drug thing gets in the mix. It's not like he was in possession of a significant quantity of weed, nor distributing; he was just THC positive. That's not a crime unless linked to something like a DUI charge. If it does impact upon his sentence, he should get more time, not less, because it compounds the felony. And...5 years was the max for his original felony, not 1 year. Given the relatively light sentence of 23 months, and now time "off" for drug "rehab" (a complete joke...just because somebody is positive doesn't mean they need rehab, but that's another discusssion), he will probably not do more than one year in a minimum security facility, which amounts to a handslap. With only one year off the playing field he will still be in fine shape to resume his football career, which I think was the intent behind this little maneuver by his legal team. And, it will probably come to fruition. With a longer sentence, which he so truly deserved, he might have been past his prime athletic abilities, and it would have sidelined him from playing ball the same way. Now, it will be business as usual, and he virtually moves on unscathed. The "booes" won't last past the 1st game. So yeah, I'm outraged. Anybody else would have had a longer sentence imposed. He gets off lightly because he's Michael Vick. The message is clear, and all can hear it. If you're a rich ball player, and a superstar, you are handled with kid gloves, despite the crime. Absolutely sickening.

My sentence: the max possible for this crime, with maybe a year "off", that year being spent working Full Time in a veterinary clinic assisting the caregivers with general canine care and wounded animal cases or working in an animal shelter. Then, he will have paid his debt to my satisfaction. But, they didn't ask me.
