So far everything I've read is knee-jerk. They're talking about banning water for swimming pools, water maintenance for public parks, and so forth. The hugest majority of our water comes from reservoirs fed by rivers--not much well water--so unless the supply starts replenishing in the mountains there's not going to be much natural relief. There's been a bit of rain lately, but it would have to rain for about 4 straight months to even think about catching up.I haven't seen state and local governments offer much other than increasing the bans on things and stepping up enforcement, which is really too little too late.I did see one op-ed piece a while back about using nuclear plants to desalinate seawater to reintroduce to the water supply. The problem is that there are only 2 nuke facilities in the state and there's not a lot of public support for any more, especially since the 2 we have are already near (but not on) the coast.http://www.ajc.com/search/content/opinion/stories/2007/12/26/nukesed1226.html
