"They carried their instruments" was a bit of a bluff. It was pretty much all Scholz and Delp in Tom's basement. I think that insular way of working eventually leads to creative dead ends. People have to have new input to get new output. Musically, I'm not sure Sholz has opened himself up to enough other influences to have anything new to say within his genre.
