"I have never personally met anyone who has told me that their life was changed by a Boston song. I have many friends whose lives were shaped by the Clash however and they would say so too."

Well . . . okay . . . you haven't experienced the phenomenon of someone's life being changed by B, but you have experienced that of someone's life being changed by C. But does that preclude the possibility of a B change?

And really, what I was asking was imprecisely phrased, so I'll try to do better: "with what attitude does the Clash fan approach the Boston fan, and why?"

In my experience, I have witnessed (and taken part in, you bet) many clashes (mostly verbal) between fans of different kinds of rock music. I've been on more than one side of this argument, as that's my thing . . . I like exploring ideas.

Clash a:

Boston fan: "Boston changed my life!" Clash fan: "Changed you into a corporate whore, you mean!"

Clash b:

Clash fan: "The Clash changed my life!" Boston fan: "Changed you into a musical moron, you mean!"

And since it is in my nature to seek out the means by which I can understand positions/reactions/feelings other than my own, I keep extending this little corner of the DBIS tornado. Hope you don't mind. At least it isn't photographs of gaping rectii. (or is it?)
