The only way out of that dilemma Schmookler observes as the hopeless mess were in, IMO, is for the strongest nation to lay down its arms, to disarm.

That's us right now. No other nation can make a moral move, since for them to disarm would be to acknowledge our ability to defeat them, and would be disarming only to save themselves.

No, only we can make the moral gesture, which would, which could, invite other nations to disarm seeing that we are no longer capable of being an agressor.

Or they may decide to become the agressor and destroy us. Therein lies the moral dilemma. Would the rest of the world turn on them?

I've often wondered what turn history would have taken had Goliath laid down his sword, notwithstanding David's eventual victory.

If he had laid down his sword and David still have killed him...?

If David has put down his sling, they would have called it an act of cowardice, not a moral act, only the strong can act morally.
