You are older than me and I applaud the fact that you've come so far in life in safety and feel secure.

I am a sceptic though about society (and have been for a long time), and so is David btw even if we seem like opposing opposites.

The world to me has not only gotten nowhere near better in my lifetime (I am 53), it has become much more violent. You can't blame that on democrats or republicans directly because in my opinion, the government can't do anything to stop it. And it is much worse than when I was a kid.

I am not yet retired (have a long way to go actually and maybe never will), but I work and watch as the government takes my money and gives it to those who don't want to work. Not just those that can't, but those who longer have incentive. Where did our work ethic go?

The bad part about that is that the same culture has devolved into thinking it is ok to take more from me even if they have to use a weapon. It is almost commonplace now.

No. If you saw me on the street you would see that I am a very pleasant individual that would give you the benefit of any doubt. And even though in my state open carry is ok...it is not something I, or most of us would do. Concealed carry is called concealed for a reason. Sure there are assholes on both sides. And the open carry guys are just doing it to get your goat. Flaunting it to be sure and I don't like that and have never done that.

Yes, your gun will be worthless to you a half mile away if somebody did break in armed with a weapon (and you still can't even get to your baseball bat in the car). The cops only generally do followup investigations after all. They almost never get there fast enough to stop it (no matter how fast they are...not their fault)

But that is you and not me. But I am also not the guy I've been painted to be in this thread (and that includes Jim Carrey's little stupid song).

What we are really talking about here though is why is everybody so pissed off that the latest federal gun bills failed? I've given many examples (of others not myself and even from your own camp) but can anybody even read anymore? I think not and you are supposed to be an "elite".

At least twice now (hell maybe more) I've been told in this very thread "Nobody wants to take your guns". Geez, if I just had a dime for everytime I heard that.

My Dad always told me that a short pencil is better than a long memory. And so here is the short pencil.

It won't matter though. You won't read it. You'll just say that I am the one that has been brainwashed.

And we will just have to agree to disagree.
