What is happening to your niece is truly horrible. This is a direct result of racists being emboldened by the shit bag that now sits in the oval office. Trump has now endorsed another racist running for office in Corey Stewart. So, he has endorsed child molesters and racists from the oval office. How does anybody stand with this guy?

How does anybody continue to back this kind of scum?

The explanation gets very dark and I don't think helps because it involves appealing to the most vile and cruel aspects of the human animal. I really want to believe that the voters that support this pile of human refuse do not support these things...but I know some of them do. My hope has always been that it is a smaller percentage of Trump supporters that are attached to these ideas...hovering somewhere in the 20-30% area...which I admit is still a shocking number of people in 2018 but I can't believe that nearly 90% of Republican voters sign on to this madness. I just can't believe that.

I know a lot of former Republicans that walked away from the party when George W. Bush was president and now find what the party has become is the most vile and useless bunch of clowns to ever inhabit our government.

This is why we see some elected Republicans quitting, stating they will not seek reelection. They don't want to be involved.

However, I understand we can't change human nature and some people have vile beliefs that they cling to. The hope in a society and country such as ours is that our institutions protect all of us from becoming subject to those vile beliefs.

The Trump administration is directly and openly attempting to destroy those institutions. Working overtime to destroy faith in our justice system, rule of law, and all of the people hired to uphold those laws and operate the institutions and agencies meant to protect us. This kind of destruction has to come from the inside and the Trump administration is executing it daily.

We have to hope that our fellow citizens recognize this and want to do something about it.

The most disgusting thing though...worse than the voters that may be invested in their vile beliefs...is that our Republican senators and congressmen know this is happening, know it is wrong, and they are doing not a single thing about it.

People often ask "The Germans were good people, how did their country slip into the hands of the Nazis and go down such a vile path?"

Well, this is how it happens. The elected Republicans appear to either fear doing something to prevent this or they are watching to see how far they can go with it...and waiting is not a good plan because it will eventually be too late.

The fact that Trump and Sessions created policy that separates children from their families and jails them in a former WalMart building is a very, very bad sign and they currently have no intention of ending this policy intending to create a tent city for jailed children when the WalMart is full.

Watching Sessions laugh and smirk as he quoted the bible as reason for doing this was probably the sickest and most disgusting display I have ever seen from a government official in this country in my lifetime. That should have convinced anybody watching of the existence of evil and put a face on it for the world to see.

What a horrible moment for this country.

And go ahead and tell me I have gone over the top, Marc if you are out there, bringing Hitler and the Nazis into this...but Sessions quoted the same bible verse as the Nazis did to justify their horrors...and he knew it and laughed and smirked the whole way...
