There is a lot of nihilism raging in that client, Reg, though he'd be clueless if you uttered the word. He obviously loves blunt objects, wrecking balls, the upsetting of apple carts, etc. He doesn't understand that alliances and international norms of behavior have truly made America a great place for many people. And yes, there's suffering and a lot of work to be done, especially for blue collar workers. He doesn't get that he's being conned. He'll probably go through life with absolutely no knowledge of the powerful cultural, economic, and political forces that are being exerted on him and his loved ones. That would require a sense of what he's missing, and I'll wager he hasn't a clue that there is a wider world of ideas. But what he will have is that base, feral pleasure of watching dear leader play a real life Tony Soprano! He's got the MAGA hat, the tee shirts, the identity and the tribe. And for many people, sadly, that is fine by them.
