I think the chance of going forward with an indictment with respect to a conspiracy was lost when Manafort stuck to his guns and wouldn't cooperate with Mueller. That he was passing along internal polling data to Constantine Kalimnic, a Russian operative, tells me that they were working together to undermine Clinton's campaign. Without Manafort confirming this and without access to the 13 Russians, Mueller indicted it was going to be a difficult case to prove beyond a reasonable doubt regardless of any other proof or evidence they may have had. Which brings up an interesting point for me: should we be able to see what other evidence there was and be allowed to come to our own conclusions or is this an unfair approach to the accused?
