It looks like there is supposed to be some sort of show on CNN featuring John Kelly, but here is the thing - it appears his comments are being made available from some sort of source other than from him personnaly.
I hope not, but recorded phone calls are not the same as in person. On top of that, what is it that people like this truly have to fear? Another job in a Republican administration? Shit, by coming out they would probably ensure they could get a job later in either a Dem or Republican administration (especially if Trumpism is put to rest this Nov).
It baffles me how supposed "tough" people are such shrinking violets while others, quite often people from the grass roots and like AOC, exude more courage than one of these people.
I am so disappointed in Robert Mueller and his investigation. I mean, really, so fucking what if it could have ended with an indictment of a sitting president when what we have now is an Administration that flagranlty breaks the law consistently and openly. Right now we have a sitting president that legally could be charged with some sort of criminal charge with his handling of COVID-19. There are plenty of charges to be found on the law books regarding his personal behavior over this virus - from malfeasance, to misfeance or to some sort of negligent homicide or some sort of manslaughter.
For example, imagine a mine owner knowingly sending workers into a mine with some sort of gas that could kill them and not telling them of the hazards. There is a criminal charge in there and nothing different than Trump's behavior over COVID.
And what voices that could make a difference do? Chickenshit things like "leaking" phone calls of Trump criticism to save their own reputations rather than make a difference.
Imagine if John Kelly had gone on CNN or MSNBC after the story about how Trump denigrated war dead surfaced. THAT would have made a difference. But he reamained silent. Why? Hell, doing so would have rendered him untouchable in the future.
A few months ago I started watching the network news again. It makes me want to puke - it clearly follows the formula of "if it bleeds, it leads." On top of that, these fucking things still give Trump so much air time and broadcast his fucking lies while making weak comments after. And for just thirty seconds or so. Then they move on to other meaningless stories instead of really drilling in on the ones that matter and still resist calling Trump a LIAR - of which he is, while broadcasting his lies again and again.
One of my favorite writers is Eric Alterman of The Nation. Man, if only these networks too some cues from this man.....
