Well, obviously we are supposed to have a separation of church and state but as has been well covered even here, that has been thrown out the window because Republicans find religious people so damn easy to manipulate. As are racists, and conspiracy loons. The common factor between these groups is they do place "beliefs" high above truth and facts. So, this has become the Republican target audience. They are not even trying a little bit to appeal to anybody outside these groups. This is why they just spew what any sane person can see is utter nonsense...because they are no longer trying to speak to anybody that is sane. They'd stop doing it if it did not work but it has worked on millions of people so, they will continue down this road. I mean think how fantastic it is to just be able to say or invent ANYTHING and you've got 70 million people that just immediately believe it.
