EEE ~ thanks for taking the time to elaborate more about this. First off, I don't think we pay cops nearly enough. ZipRecruiter says the average pay for a LEO in Minneapolis is $22 per hour; an inadequate amount for that kind of work. It has to be one of the more difficult jobs in our society to do well. I have to believe that the culture within many precincts around the country is one that makes it difficult for a younger officer to do the right thing when they've got more seasoned officers doing otherwise. Fortunately or unfortunately, the biggest force for change going for us now are cellphones.
As much as I'd like to, I simply can't trust the police to do the right thing today. I wish that wasn't the case but it's what my eyes and ears tell me. Hopefully, you were able to influence a few younger officers with your approach to policing, and that they embraced those lessons and in turn pass them along to those who came behind them.
