Thank you, Roger. I wrote this in an effort to appeal to anybody stuck in the Republican alternate universe who may be growing weary of the politics there, to show them that there is life beyond the nonsense. My conversion happened more than a decade ago so I'm not sure how helpful this will be. It's a different sort of animal we're dealing with today but if you all were able to reach me, I know there's hope for others as well—and so I try. I only wanted to share this here to let people know that their words were meaningful to me (although it may not have seemed so at the time) and as a reminder to never stop trying.
