Can you imagine anyone scripting these past 5 years ahead of it all and expect to be taken seriously? 

It's a viciously stupid script that honestly has characters in it that are so goddamn dumb nobody would believe they could get as close as they did to their goal...which was to choke the life out of American democracy. Sad part is, the sequel is on the way.

I do think people have a very hard time believing these things happened. Particularly if they live in the world of FOX and One America, and whatever the rest of those dumb shit stations are. They have not heard a word of actual news in 5 years. Also, when these Republican nitwits tell them not to believe their own eyes, they actually don't believe their own eyes.

I enjoyed reading your blog, Kevin, and I hope you get some people that will listen and interact with you. I have friends and acquaintances that are Republican leaning/voting. They basically split into three categories, those that see the Republican party has destroyed itself, those that believe this is just campaign tactics and the insanity will go away once they regain control of the House and Senate in 2022, and those that it is impossible to have a discussion with because you can't cut through their fantasy land nonsense that they believe. 

I live in Massachusetts. New England/New York Republicans tend not to be like Republicans in other parts of the country. So, while there are the full on "Let's get this fascist party started!" Republicans here, there are not as many as there are in Ohio, Florida, Texas, Arizona, Michigan...etc...

So, I sometimes confront face to face the nutjobs but I also confront sane Republicans. The sad part is, while sane Republicans should give us hope, they don't really because even they admit they no longer run the party. They are a small minority in a party that has turned full on freak show. 

Basically, I understood when voters like our old pal Marc would say they wanted to "throw the grenade" of Donald Trump into the middle of American politics. I don't know if Marc fully understood what that would do. Truth is, I did not fully comprehend what that would do. 

The most chilling moment I had, where I finally went "OK, I get it." was when one of these grenade throwing voters explained to me why he voted for Trump and why he would vote for him again and again and happily make him president for life. 

"He is the only one that will destroy this country. Burn it to the ground so we have to start all over. Nobody else will do that."

I think it took a bit for that to sink in to my thick skull but when it did, boy did I ever get it. This is exactly who Steve Bannon is. It is exactly what Trump wanted to do. It is exactly why he sees Putin as a pal, they share the same goals. It is why Tucker Carlson now trumpets Putin and his talking points on his show. 

These people want to destroy the country and install a new form of government. Full on American fascism. Not sure the voters that support this all understand what this means but they will if it happens. Some won't care because they are getting what they want. 

I think most people don't think the Republicans could pull this off. They came damn close with Trump as the front man. Now the elected Republicans that took part have two options, try to cover-up what they did or try to complete what they started with Trump and flip us to a fascist government. In those options, they need to regain control of the House and Senate and it sure looks like they will at the midterms. 

I hope you keep us up to date if you get any takers on your offer to discuss your journey with them. I'm not optimistic that you will and I think the task of pulling one of these people out of their fantasy is an extremely difficult one. 

We are seeing some positive signs that our justice system is not asleep and may in fact be able to punish these people...but justice works slowly and time is short so, will any of this happen in time?

Mitch McConnell has openly said the Republican Party platform will be kept a secret until they have regained control of the House and Senate. Will voters actually vote for a party that tells them "Give us power then we will tell you how we will use it!" in the United States? Seems they will. 

Newt Gingrich openly talks of jailing the people that are investigating what happened with the attack on our capitol. Tucker Carlson is on TV saying we should be siding with Putin and hand Ukraine over to him on a silver platter. One of the lawyers that worked on stealing the election for Trump went on TV and openly said he sure did attempt to commit fraud by getting wackos to pretend to be the electors from a variety of states to undermine the actual electors. Rudy ran that show, with Trump's full approval. Elected Republicans tried to participate in the scheme. 

Total wackos that hold positions in Republican legislatures in various states are attempting to change laws and put other wackos in positions on election boards so they can be the ones that determine the outcome of an election rather than the voters. Republicans in DC want nothing to do with trying to prevent this. This is not hidden...it is right out in the open.

It would seem if people actually saw this happening they would be horrified by the Republican party. All I can think is they don't see it and don't understand it.

All the best to you, Kevin, I hope some people listen to you. I don't think Biden is well liked at this stage. Kamela Harris is a bright person but kind of a car crash as a candidate. I do not see Democrats lining things up so they will win elections and work to turn this madness around. 

Years back there was a right wing talk show host on the air in Boston. His name was Jay Severin and before we actually reached this point, well before we elected Trump, he was preaching the entire gospel that defined the Bannon/Trump madness. Be shameless, be vicious, be ruthless, never unite people, always divide. Have no mercy on Democrats, hate them and build hate for them and crush them out of existence. Never compromise with them, never give an inch, always say no to them, do not try to appeal to their voters, give them nothing, bring them to heel. He openly talked about sleeping with every woman he could, hookers, college interns, whatever. He called Mexicans, in 2009, "the lowest form of primitives in the world" and said Mexicans were "leeches, leeching off you and this country" while they are destroying it. Destroying hospitals, schools, and basically life in this country in general. Not sure if he ever met Trump. He was a political consultant for years before becoming a talk show host. The prick died in 2020, so he saw the world he wanted come to fruition. Trump was the ultimate representation of the garbage this guy spewed. He probably loved him. He easily could have been the guy that wrote every word that came out of Trump's big garbage filled mouth.

Point being, this was a direction that the Republican party was headed in before Trump and I think there is now no turning back for them. The script was written and they followed it. We have seen the first film, next we get the sequel.
