Icon The Unfalsifiability Fallacy

Sadly, there is nothing that your brother would accept that could possibly falsify in his eyes his claim as to what transpired on January 6th. This is called the unfalsifiability fallacy. Karl Popper said something to the effect that the falsifiability of an argument is a strength, and an argument/theory/hypothesis that cannot be falsified is a sign of its weakness. Religious zealots and political ideologues favor beliefs that cannot be falsified. Human psychology can be an enormous obstacle in the search for truth. Too many people, for whatever psychological reason, just won't make it into the reality-based community. And I believe membership in the reality-based community should be predicated on acknowledging that we, too, might be wrong, and have blindspots, and even blindspots to our blindspots. Doubt is a healthy sign of sanity...though I could be wrong.
