Yeah, breaking through to someone that has been given permission to ignore reality is never going to be fun. The thing Trump, with help from his media friends, was able to do was to hand out that pass to all his supporters to say if they don't like it, they can call it fake. It's a simple thing but very effective. 

The thing is when you build that kind of monster, it can turn on you and Trump supporters did turn on FOX because FOX was not going deep enough into the fictional universe for them. If you don't say what they want to hear, then they call you fake. I think some of these people have turned on Trump as well now. Not for all the lies he told them, they don't like that Trump has been promoting Covid vaccines as "The greatest achievement of mankind." and that he himself has his vaccines and booster. 

The anti-vax anti-science crowd did not like that and that may have moved Trump into their enemy camp, for some.

I would say that the right-wing media does help keep the population ignorant of truth and facts but I think far worse is that what Trump showed other elected Republicans is that they should also participate in keeping the public confused by lying all the time. This worked for Trump to such an extent he did create a cult. 

I don't think they were as brazen about it before Trump was elected. Once they saw it was a path to reelection, then they took it. To keep it an effective method though, everybody needs to be telling the same lies. This is where things have splintered in the cult a bit. All of the people in the cult don't have the same goals and beliefs. 

I think media idiots like Tucker Carlson spinning a bunch of bullshit are one thing and really to be expected. When the elected Republicans are full on telling their voters total nonsense to con them and using this nonsense to change state legislatures and laws...now we have a tremendous problem. 

How is a guy like your brother supposed to have any idea what is going on in the world when he is hearing nonsense from right wing media and nonsense from his elected officials, and then if he is on the internet and reading any of the stuff from the total loons out there...well, man, your breakthrough potential there is pretty damn low. 

It is sad that you can't have a conversation with your own brother about things. These are our lives now. The plan/script to push the country into warring factions that can't stand each other and won't listen to each other has worked. If we don't communicate with each other we can't work anything out. It is part of the plan.

I don't know how this will all play out. I think that things are likely to get worse before they get better.
