Your friend's reaction was strange, and I am not sure under what circumstance you would say that looting and arson are supportable activities. I also think anybody that has paid even the slightest amount of attention to how people work would find it a ludicrous idea to abolish the police.

However, after Trump won election in 2016 a bunch of lefty friends dumped me. Basically, because I had said many times, here too, that Hillary Clinton was way too much of a polarizing figure and risk to run against Donald Trump. When she lost, man, I got some serious hate and to this day they speak about me like they are spitting something that tastes terrible out of their mouths. Somehow, they now portray me as a misogynist "Bernie Bro" that is the entire problem with the Democratic party. Like I ruined everything. Or my "kind" ruined everything.

During that election night I was up all night watching the results come in and was as stunned and disappointed as anybody else that a fucking moron and total clown like Donald Trump was actually elected president. I watched the completely stunned Donald Trump walk out and seem totally lost that he had actually won in the early morning hours. Even that fucking idiot knew he should not be president.

I think your point is well made, that due to the vicious fighting in this country people's political beliefs have become part of their identity. So, if you happen to say something they feel diminishes their beliefs...well...you might as well have taken a great big shit on their treasured pictures of grandma and grandpa or their kid's birthday party photos.

If we could back away from that a bit, it would be in our best interests. My parents were a couple of Kennedy democrats. Voted for JFK, supported RFK, they talked politics around elections. People came to the house, and they participated in campaigns to get democrats elected. But they never talked politics every day of every year. After an election it stopped and when the next election happened, they would participate again. Now this shit goes on all day, every day, all fucking year whether we are 4 seconds or 4 years from an election. It has us tied in knots and acting like maniacs rooting for our favorite football team except in this case rather than winning the game it is all life or death.

And honestly, nobody is worse than a Trump supporter with this because they fly their freak flag every day, no matter what. Yesterday during my travels, I drove by a house with a giant sign hanging on it that looked like a Donald Trump campaign sign except it said FUCK BIDEN. Now, I can't stand Trump but would never hang a sign on my house, particularly a huge one, that said FUCK TRUMP. That is something a nutjob or moron might do.

My neighbor down the street from me has his big homemade TRUMP WON sign hanging on his house. Every time I see it, I wonder how long will he keep that up and what does he think it says about him?

Anybody that is not suffering brain damage knows Trump did not win so, that sign to me screams MORON. Like, I just want to let anybody that gets near my house know I am an idiot so if I start throwing my own feces at things don't be shocked or surprised.

I would guess he does not see it that way but based on the fact he has bizarre signs hanging around his property he's not seeing much clearly at this point.
