...but I think it failed because such a huge part of the plan relied on morons and utter stupidity. Plus thankfully a bunch of people did stand up to Trump and tell him and his idiot toadies what they were doing was illegal and unconstitutional. 

I can't stand Bill Barr but he did resign rather than go along with Trump's election lies or as Bill preferred to call it bullshit.

All of the Justice Department leaders and at least 150 others saying they would resign if Trump put Jeff Clark in charge of the department and he would then be overseeing a ghost town did kind of save our asses.  

The insurrectionists, led by the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers were meant to occupy the capitol buildings to shut down government functioning and it was intended to be for days so Trump could pull off his coup. Trump was fully aware of this and it was why he told them to march down to the capitol and why he did nothing while they attacked it. It was what Trump and his moron crew wanted. 

I did laugh when I saw Jeff Clark go on Tucker Carlson and say he "No longer recognizes this country." because the FBI raided his home. Yeah, right! He was told over and over by multiple people what he and Trump were up to was a felony and unconstitutional and he is now going to claim he was surprised the FBI is looking at his activities? OK, as Bill Barr would say, BULLSHIT JEFF!

It is as close as we ever got as a country to having our democracy fall to a fascist coup but thankfully Trump, Eastman, Clark, Rudy, Navarro, Jenna Ellis, Sidney Powell, Gaetz, Gohmert, Brooks, Biggs, Perry, Greene, and Jordan were all fucking morons. 

So, oddly we were both nearly slaughtered but eventually saved by stupidity. 

This is why I so enjoyed Eric Herschmann's testimony because he saw how stupid these people all were and told them. In a sane world I should not be enjoying that testimony but it told me that there were people working in the Trump administration that saw how dumb and criminal it was and spoke up.
