Very interesting reply.  Near bedtime so I can't write much (remember, still only 14 days out from brain tumor removal the size of a large mandarin).  But while I get and have some empathy with much of what you wrote here, Reg, I'm not sure I agree with all.  Perhaps specifically the minimization of the threat of the further left and dismissal of AOC or similar.  Their mirror images on the right (idiots like Taylor-Greene or Boebert) also don't have much power.  So using that argument to separate them from the other doesn't quite fit to me.  But I'd agree that neither of those far wings are really the driving force.  I also think you vastly overrate the influence or even desire of the MAGA people to disassemble voting and democracy.  They have a point of view about election fairness.  We both would likely disagree with their view on that.  But I'm not at all sure it arises to danger.  I'm just not seeing that.  I think you worry too much.  Of course, if we sat down to a meal, we'd probably have a deep and pretty good conversation.  I do enjoy reading your thoughts and trying to see where you're coming from.
