I don't know how European news agencies are covering the 2024 election cycle there but if they are gauging who is "winning" right now based on polling, well, that is not at all going to give them a clear picture of what is happening. Essentially, right now nobody is really winning. The polls are worthless this far out from the general election and all the primary voting does is give us a picture of the strengths or weaknesses of the candidates. Trump is the lead candidate for the Republicans, this is true, but so far he is basically getting 60% of the vote. Obviously this means is not getting 40% of the vote in primaries where the votes are coming in from Republican voters. What that indicates is, he has a big problem in his own party with support.
It means there is a split among Republican voters. Yes, he has his insanely loyal base that will vote for him no matter what, but to win, he basically needs every single Republican vote to win the election in November and a lot of independent voters, and if he really wants to secure a victory, he would want to win some Democrats. He appears to have about as good a chance of doing that, Mick, as you and I winning the lottery the same day.
In reality, our 2024 election is in the courts right now. If you want to gauge what is happening with it really what you need to do is look at what is going on with a ridiculous number of lawsuits and criminal trials...a bunch involving Trump himself. This paints the picture of what is likely to happen and, in that regard, none of that news is good for Trump at the moment either.
The two lawsuits he just lost have him in huge personal financial trouble. He does not have half a billion dollars to pay what he owes and he can't appeal those cases unless he puts up the money first...well, he can but if he does not put up the money, they can seize his assets and freeze his bank accounts. They are going to do exactly that. This will destroy him. With Donald everything, all the time, is about the money. He can't grift fast enough to keep up with his financial losses. Selling ugly gold sneakers at $400 bucks a pair to his infantile followers won't do the trick.
Republicans said when he got Lara Trump in as chair of the RNC it was literally the death knell signaling the end of the party and that they would get wiped out in 2024.
It really looks like our Nazis here, Mick, are not going to win this round. They bet on the wrong guy, who is really going to look bad when his "financial empire" tilts sideways and he starts looking to file for bankruptcy. We are just about to see that happen. Trump is the weakest presidential candidate in US history.
Israel and Bibi are hurting Biden with Democrats, particularly in Michigan, a swing state with I believe our largest Muslim population. However, while I totally understand the pressure they want to put on Biden to be harder on what the Israelis are doing, I think that will work out. All I have seen is that Biden and his people are putting the screws to Bibi but it all remains behind closed doors. I think that the Muslims in our country will and probably already do understand that not supporting Biden is just a path to something far worse for Palestinians.
