Hi Doc,
First of all, I thought the person who wrote the abortion piece did it as a sensationalistic self-serving diatribe. Poor taste, I thought in the setting of THIS message board, but if there was a message there, albeit done with a very "in-your-face" way, it was obviously the abhorrence of the procedure, oppostion to abortion, preservation of the sanctity of life..etc..very graphic though. OK, fair enough. If I was shocked, maybe that was the intended effect.
Now about "original thought". Thanks for writing, but out of your whole smattering of language, I am still not hearing a message, similar to the other paragraphs you submitted. You seem to be grasping for something, but I am not hearing it. The only thing I could decipher was something about linear thought progression, correct me if I misinterpreted, vis a vis, thought leading to thought etc... I actually believe in non-linearity and complete LACK of borders when it comes to thought and creativity, but we can discuss this later.
What I was curious about was WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Examples: 1. I believe life has no meaning
2. I believe life does have a meaning.
3. I think/believe there is a God.
4. I think/believe there is no such thing as God.
5. I'm confused.
6. I think John Coltrane was cooler than Miles Davis, 'cause he didn't punch back when Miles punched him in the stomach on a gig once. etc..(true story).
Seriously though, that's ALL I was curious about. Doc thinks this..doesn't need to answer to anybody as to why, and then the references to Schopenauer, Hegel, Lenny Bruce etc...as to where the thought came from if you want, and if you don't want to "back up" the thought with a reference, even better; this message board isn't a referreed journal, thankfully.
You write back some time, with your thoughts, beliefs, anything, and I'll write back, and I hope all the folks out there in DB land will also, and it'll be fun. We'll share IDEAS (of course described with WORDS, but not obscured by them).
Thanks for taking the time and effort to write. I'm looking forward to the next installment of "Doc".
Peace,
Gene
