Stop and think - who and what is being affected here? His corporation, which is a separate entity and does not really affect him - it's the corporation that goes bankrupt, his personal bottom line is not touched. He can just liquidate the old hardware and real estate then open a new business down the road with some willing investors behind him. That's the mindset you're running up against.
His workers - they're fucked (and if this is in a right to work state - double fucked - no guarantee of rehire), but there are levels of mid managers between the staff and the corporate suite to deflect that blow. Not to mention hiring new staff at lower wages when things pick up again.
These people won't change until it hits their own wallet. End of rant.
