"Under George W. Bush, this nation has lost its way. Not only are we less secure at home and abroad, we have squandered our role as the inspiration and guiding light for other peoples."

Not that I'm any fan of George Bush, but...I disagree with this whole SQUANDERING thing folks keep talking about.

I don't see how other countries have been inspired by us...at least night recently.  I think that we've been emulated in our freedoms to an extent, but our foreign policies which are simultaneously isolationist AND meddling.  Part of the BIG LIE is that everyone likes us.

So...did we squander the world wide "Oh poor baby!" of 9.11 by being snotty to supportive countries?  I think so...but that was a temporary and short lived situation anyway. Our economy and lifestyle is viewed as desirable but our international bullying, under the table manipulation and ignorance of cultures that differ from us is hardly inspiring.

But that's just me reacting to THAT sentiment.  Does anyone have a good source to read about Mr. Dean that is not slanted either way?  I really should know more before I bitch about him.
