Howdy,

Put these in my 10-CD changer in the car this week. Have listened to most only once so far:

1. DB - HCTNFU. I've listened to AFM sooo many times, it's strange hearing a new mix of the songs.

2. John Hiatt -The Tiki Bar is Open. I love Hiatt.

3. Jayhawks - Smile. Have changed their sound since Mark Olson left the band. But stil enjoyable to me.

4. Whiskeytown - Pneumonia. Have listened to this just once but first impression is terrible. Very, very dissapointed with this CD. Ryan Adams is extremely prolific but you should not put out everything you cut. This had to have been an attempt to cash in on the demise of Whiskeytown (Ryan went solo before this CD was released). Pale comparison to Stranger's Almanac.

5. Bruce Springsteen - The Rising. CD keeps growing on you after every listen. I started listening by trying to compare it musically and lyrically to BTR and Darkness. Doesn't match those efforts but is his best work since Tunnel of Love.

6. Rush - Vapor Trails. Checking these guys out from the 4th row at Philips Arena in Atlanta on Sunday night.

7. Tift Merritt - Bramble Rose. Album is a little to over-produced. Sounds a lot like Kim Richey. Doesn't rock as hard as her live show.

8. The Two Dollar Pistols with Tift Merritt - Traditional country duets. Honk-tonk nirvana.

9. Jim Lauderdale - The Other Sessions. Lauderdale is definitely an acquired taste because of the sound of his voice. An exceptional songwriter who's never going to get the acclaim he deserves because he is not going to create a mainstream CD just because the establishment wants one.
