Eric,
The're re-releasing Damien's "O" this Tuesday with that damn extra DVD and I believe the original cloth cover. Haven't decided to buy it or not. I guess it depends if any of the stores have it a good price. Also Damien is on tour next month into April, I believe? The great Irish band, The Frames are opening. This is a double whammy to have both acts on the same bill in the states. So if you live in the areas he's playing go see both of theese bands, I bet it's going to be special.
Tuesday, Americans will be able to buy the latest album by the UK act, Lamb, as well. I don't know if there are any of you who own any of their CD's, But their latest is realy an impressive offering. Their best since their debut. Also, there is a David Baerwald connection here. Lamb's "Gorecki" was used in bits and pieces in Baz Larman's (sp?) "Moulin Rouge".
Also, I just learned that one of my musical gods, Caetano Veloso, will be releasing his first album sung entirly in english, "A Foreign Sound" on April 6th. I guess it is a homage to the city of New York. I believe it's all cover songs that he feels closly tied to New York.No shite, sappy Billy Joel songs, I promise! He plays two night at Carnegie Hall on April 16-17th, the later date is with his pal, David Byrne.
Well that's my musical offering for the week. So I couldn't relate to the original post, with Jazz connections to David's music. I just don't hear much Jazz (classic, free form or fusion) in David's solo records.
