I dunno, Reg...I usually agree with pretty much everything you say (which is a big part of why I don't post much anymore), but I think you're taking all this way too seriously. It almost sounds like you're accusing Hung's handlers of perpetuating a stereotype simply by allowing him to sing, which seems...unfair. It reminds me of that Onion article about people demonstrating against an Asian laundromat owner for conforming to racist stereotypes.

It's the record business, in the entertainment industry. Built to make money. Criticizing Hung for taking advantage of his 15 minutes of fame by making a bad record and selling knick-knacks on his website--or criticizing KOCH for allowing him to do so--misses the point.

Kent, how many times do you think a project like this will make money? Hung's record is selling by virtue of a) his personality and b) his appearance on a top-rated television show. Right place, right time. Your typical bad singer sells along the lines of Wesley Willis. I doubt KOCH is going to turn their investment around in the way you suggest.

Finally, I don't think it's fair to characterize DB as some kind of helpless industry victim. He knows the rules of the game and chooses not to play by them. He's happier that way and so, I think, are his fans.
