Edlorah,
Yes, I'm a cop. I do the crime scene part in Peoria, IL. It's a blue collar town that thinks it is more white collar and with a population of around 115K. I'm not from this smaller city though, and would not claim it for my own.
Mick,
As for mental trauma, it does make me wonder, especially later on, but I see so much of this as a scientific process and am able to remove myself from it quite a bit. At one point I was really concerned about it, but a close friend pointed out that those we deal with are strangers and that realization made a difference.
Kent,
It wasn't the most terrible part of town, but not the best either. Not that I'm saying anyone deserves things like this, what makes it so terrible is that these two were truly innocent victims. There is a hidden secret in so much of crime and that is so many victims are victims today and suspects tomorrow. And to add to that, many victims are players "in the game."
But certainly, such an observation is not to lessen the impact of any victimiziation.
So on to the joy of family, friends, music and all that makes us human....
Best to all,
Eric
