Dan,

The song on the Garden State soundtrack was written and originaly performed by The Postal Service. Iron & Wine's version was originaly released on one of TTPS's CD singles. Mr. Sam Beam (aka Iron & Wine) seems to be doing quite a few covers of late. You can also find a great cover of "Ab's Song"(Marshall Tucker Band) on the "Sweetheart"compilation at your local Starbucks during this Valentine season. Great comp, features many great covers done by some pretty darn good artists. Plus we have a cover of "Waiting for Superman"(Flamming Lips) done by Mr. Beam on the latest KCRW "Sounds Eclectic 3" CD. Another damn fine collection of tunes by varous artists.

So where do you start with Iron & Wine? I'd start with the first, "The Creek Drank The Cradle" then the Ep "The Sea and The Rhythm" then "Our Endless Numbered Days" Then the CD single, "Passing Afternoon"All of them are great and can be found on the Sub Pop label. The first CD and Ep are very different then the second full length. My favorite is the "Our Endless..." Plus you must see him live. Very smooth and relaxing show. The guy's a sweetheart as well. Talks to fans before and after show.

Cheers, Kevin
