"...people in public office, should set the example for the rest of us. They are our chosen leaders. I expect them to know the difference between right and wrong..."
But Dan that takes in about 95% of the Democratic Party
With that said, how can you think that Trent Lott should remain the leader of the Senate. Or maybe you think what he said wasn't "wrong."
What he said was inferred not implied. He mentioned in one of the seven apologies that 2 democratic senators present took nothing of coment. This gets little or no press.
And as far as turning this into a simple Dems vs. GOP match - I think you should look closer at who's really putting the heat of Lott to step down. Here's a hint - he's the idiot in the White House. You're right about one thing, Dale. It is politics as usual...in this case - how best to get GW re-elected.
If your thinking Lott will step down and GW will sit by you are wrong.
He is seeing how this is playing out. Lott wont just step down he will leave the party entirely and I cant blame him. If you think GW will sit back and watch the majority swing back to the Dems well that aint happening. This is just a major dose of the Double Standard the Dems have and bias press that is the norm. I wont even start into the Robert Byrd thing and Al Gore Sr. This is politics pure and simple
