One of my dad's many jobs when I was a youngster growing up on a farm that housed "old" dairy cows was as an "AI Technician", although I'm sure there was some less glamorous name for it then. I hope to god it wasn't "Artificial Inseminator". :)
He took me along with him once or twice, but at 7 years old I could never figure out why the old man wanted to stick his arm up a heifer's heiny.....a couple of my more sophisticated friends clued me in. For some reason, I held my father in much different esteem for a while.
Great site, beautiful beasts, and congrats on spending your life the way you choose. Small farmers hold a place near and dear to my heart, for my family has farmed in Illinois for 6 generations, but it looks like the greedy corporate folks are going to run out the last couple still running.
