I heard that Prince had made a comment a while back when the Foo Fighters started covering one of his tunes, he said something to the effect that they should write their own songs. So, the Foos recorded their Prince cover and released it on an E.P.
Now, how that translates into a Foo cover in the Big Bowl, I do not know.
