As far as super bowls go, it was one of the better ones…in a long time. Not sure if that’s saying much…but it had elements of actual gametime excitement and stuff atypical of the super bowl.

As far as half-time shows go, it was one of the rare few that did not suck (although Paul McCartney did pretty well for a finally-foolhardy ol’ ancient one). Well produced, …even the rain fit. Wherever Prince got his chops, he mastered ‘em & he sure ain’t lost ‘em in the haze. Purple Rain was a staple slow-dance seduction facet back in the day…and I’m forever appreciative of those memories.
Let me see: If I could perform ONLY as well as Prince, would I hide my wares from the public eye…& toil over my shortcomings? Hmmmm…, Yeah right.
The cat’s a mighty might phenomenon, even the cutesy stuff does not overshadow the energy of his miraculous attack; …to criticize such a performer is to criticize polished *original performance in general. *emulated gurus or not, Prince is an original…& worthy!
He may not be polite enough to thank Kevin Smith for his best laid documentarian efforts at Paisley Park before dismissing him, but he’s a muthaf#ckin’ genius musician.
