Well, I think the thing is how much money they raise determines how long they can stay in the race and how much advertising and promotion they can do. Travel to all the places to shake hands and kiss babies and all that. You'll notice that the candidates with less cash have to travel less and pick and choose their spots. I don't think people really choose a candidate based on the amount of money they were able to raise...at least I don't know any that do...but I know what you mean. I don't like the idea that the person with the most money can sort of buy the office of President just based on the shear volume of promotion they can do. You really have to look at the folks behind the scenes and what they tell these people that want to run for president. I mean 100 million bucks seems to be the minimum you need to be able to raise and the reason guys like Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich are marginalized is because people know they won't be able to raise money like a Hillary Clinton or Rudy Giuliani. I mean think about the recent story about the people with the farm that had got a call from Rudy's people about hosting an event with Rudy at their farm...as soon as Rudy's crew found out the people were not already millionaires they called and told them sorry we're not coming you are not the kind of people we're looking for as our base...why...because they were not wealthy enough...speaks volumes about our system.
