It is an interesting arguement . . .  Should they frame their issue as a refusal to pay taxes as a protest toward how the taxes are used, I might be more sympathetic.  But in my mind, citing long-discredited legal positions about the illegality of taxation in general seems foolish.  And my larger point is:  do we (or they) really want a country that lacks the benefits put forth from taxation? 

I have no problem with taxation.  However, finding the correct balance between public and private investment and achieving an ethical balance between use of public tax funds is a fertile area for debate.

And I guess I'm not very sympathetic because I paid my taxes and am now $X poorer for doing so.
