"Further, Bush is actually right in suggested that current situation does demand additional domestic drilling and production. In the next 20-year timeframe or so, this is crucial."Ross--Respectfully, I think that using the current crisis as a justification to open up the ANWR or do any other drilling/production is just an excuse to let the current generation off the hook for not doing anything substantial with regard to alternative energy. As one of the articles posted states, the US is horrendously behind some other developed countries with regard to wind and solar power, and a major US company in the solar area has gone to Germany because they can't find takers here. The US tries to tout itself as the home of the best and brightest, but with regard to energy we're just the home of the same-old same-old, selling our environment (and that of our children and our children's children) out to the profits of the oil industry. Big Oil has corrupted our government, our economy, and ultimately our drinking water and air to breathe. I don't see why we would want to keep them on life support any longer than necessary.
