They would hit the reserves we have buried in salt in the U.S. What no one is coming up is a comprehensive plan like:
1. Opening up ANWR
2. Drilling in the Rockies
3. Tax incentives to buy more efficient cars. Tax add on's for Hummers
4. Reducing the speed limit (I think this started in the 70's)
5. Exploring new fuel alternatives
6. Use Nuclear energy
7. Have Daylight savings time all year (did it in the 70's)
I could sit here and write all day long how the tree huggers have been the biggest issue in oil exploration but
what would be the point. We have to as a nation start from where we are and figure out a way to move away from foreign oil dependance. So far our brilliant congress has decided to attack the oil companies which is inane. One quick solution I have heard is take a portion of the reserves and surprise the speculators with a glut, bleed them dry. It's time to come together and compromise otherwise we will be forever at the hands of oil holding terrorist countries.
