I don't think 'the left' has much to do with Sarah Palin's inexplicable public exposure. I think it's the media freakshow feeding, and feeding on, the insatiable appetite we have for involving ourselves in the lives of faux-'celebrities', the more pathetic the better apparently: Mel Gibson's drunken tirades, Balloon Boy's attention-seeking family, Jon and Kate (whoever they are ...)

The list is endless. The only saving grace is our short attention span: we're easily distracted by the next human calamity so we don't have to dwell on these poor saps for too long. If the goddamn Elephant Man were alive today you'd see him throwing out the first pitch in tonight's Yankees/Phillies game.

Sarah Palin's fifteen minutes are nearly over... right after her appearance on Oprah....
