Money for Africa?

I'm split on this one. I'm all for giving people money that need it. BUT, we must be confident that money be spent on the issues it was earmarked for. Simply handing the leaders of some African countries a check for $millions and then watch most of it get stolen or used to buy weapons really pisses me off. How much did Clinton give Haiti? Billions. Has all that money done any good at all? Nope. The Haitian people continue to flow into the Dominican Republic in search of a better life. How bad is that??

If we're going to send money over there to do some good; great. But we'd better make damn sure we know where it's going, who's getting it and what they're doing with it. Let's not just throw it at a problem just so we can all pat ourselves on the back and consider ourselves humanitarians.
