Haven’t seen The Ghost Writer.

We, too, saw Shutter Island. The score & the set sucked us in deep right from the start; all that was left for the viewer to do is buy completely into the Teddy Daniels perspective. That is key to the ride, IMHO.

Scorsese loves his sets!

This is in no way a “horror” movie! Reg tagged it perfectly as Hitchcockian. This is a cold, deep, dark, noirish psychoscinematic thriller. Upon discounting the reviews, we took faith in Scorsese’s passion for filmmaking,

…and left the theater pleased. Not blown away, just ...satisfied and sharing in reflective dialogue out to the car and beyond….

Knowing the plot twist, I'd still see it again.
