I never really understood the Rock HOF as anything more than a glorified Hard Rock Cafe.  Which is to say - a place where R&R artifacts are collected and displayed.  Unfortunately there is a perceived correlation to sports related HOFs - which have their fair share of inductee criticisms as well.  But in those - pardon the pun - there is a fairly level playing field.  For music - it's a wide open crap shoot.  I also think "R&R" when it comes to be defined by the HOF in Cleveland is any music springing from the melding of of the US born blues and jazz.  That blues/jazz baby set forth guitar rock, synth rock, ballads, funk, folk, punk and Bon Jovi.

For you Rock and Roll snobs - go read your back issues of CREEM and act like Cleveland doesn't even exist...

Now Peter - this girl music thing needs to be rectified.  Did you give Courtney Barnett a real chance.  On paper she should be your perfect drug - punk lyrics, guitar driven, and hailing from of all places Australia!
