So, I believe one of the huge issues for both parties is each party is divided. On the Democrat side they are split between centrist Democrats like Biden, who are basically what a normal Republican once was and progressives like Sanders that are what a normal Democrat once was. However each side battles with the other and criticizes the other. The center right Democrats control the party though and progressives are stuck on the sidelines.

On the Republican side they are now, probably permanently, split between the radical Trump side which is racist, insane, fascist, and wants to destroy democracy and the Republicans that are fairly far right but are not racists and wackos but fear speaking out against Trump scum because they and their families will get death threats from them. Sadly, on the Republican side they are now driven by the radical Trump idiots that want to destroy the country and they are taking over both state and federal seats. On the state side it is very hard to prevent because there just are not Democrats in those red districts. So, those fascist wackos will take over state elections and we will end up with a lot of lunatics in red state governments. Sadly, the voters in those areas just appear beyond reach so, the truth is parts of the country in red states are going to go bad. 

Texas has gone right in the toilet as the Republican party in Texas just released their 2022 platform and it is as idiotic and crazy as it gets. There is no policy agenda, it is all insane garbage. It includes declaring that Joe Biden did not win the 2020 election and is the "acting" president until Trump is restored, they said they are going to "destroy the Education department" because they need their populace as stupid as possible, they want to abolish the voting rights act (because they don't want to count votes, just declare winners) to remove the rights of voters, an they want to take rights away from transgender people (probably a tiny fraction of their population) because I guess they think that is important in saving the world. Literally, everything they want to do is designed to create more crazy and remove people's rights.

If you are a voter in Texas and you vote Republican you must either be insane or a moron as they are looking to destroy your state and take away individual rights. Personally, were I a resident of Texas, a business owner in Texas, I would be either looking to move out of the state or donate and support Democrats. However, the chances are the state spirals downward and things get bad there before voters even catch on. As far as I can tell Texas and Florida are in some sort of race to win the title of most stupid and horrible state. Best of luck with that.

So, I think the Democrats love Trump because he is for them what Hillary was for Republicans. You just say the name and Democrat voters go nuts. I think they think having Trump remain the leader of the Republican party is an advantage to them. The problem is, Trump and his sleazy followers are driving that party and crazy is winning. I mean, they have the racists wrapped up, the Q Anon nuts, the gun wackos, the militias, the domestic terror groups like Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, Patriot Prayer etc...but then they are pulling in other Republican voters with CRT garbage, sex education garbage, lies about stolen elections, and selling this idea that the left are all radicals when the truth is the entire Biden part of the party are center right Republicans. 

Hell, we have the January 6th Committee but they don't even want to prosecute Trump, they just want to show the country what he did and then probably use it in advertising. The thing is, the Trump voter does not care. Some of them like that Trump is a criminal. In Michigan if you are a Republican and have been arrested and charged with a crime, your chances of getting elected go up! Particularly if Trump endorses you.

This is now the mindset. Trump's greatest achievement was to horribly divide the country. To change how people think of politics from politicians no matter their party are supposed to represent all of the people in their district to politicians should put party before people, before country, and work to destroy all that are not in their party. No compromise, full on destructive politics were Trump's gift, to our country and really the world. 

I don't think Biden grasps that. I don't think a lot of the center right Democrats grasp that. They still think they can reach across the aisle to Republicans. They think these hearings are going to make elected Republicans stand up and say in public they reject the destructive politics of Trumpism. 

This is because behind closed doors supposedly 40 Republican senators say they can't stand Trump and know he is a traitor to this country and is destroying it. 

What I would say to Democrats is GET REAL! Have you not noticed that these guys went along with Trump at every damn turn and every horribly destructive thing he did and did not lift a finger to stop it. They had their chances and passed EVERY time. 

Every time they stayed silent Trumpism won and grew stronger. Every time they refused to speak up and call him out on his lies, more voters believed the lies. Now you have voters that so embrace these lies you can't wrestle them away from them. The silent Republicans did that. 

We needed them to step up. To do their duty and protect their country and democracy and they passed every time. Over and over and over.

Now we have this mess. Two parties that are split in different ways, nobody united, and nobody can see a way out. 

There is a way but it requires courage from Republicans and that is something they just don't have.
