...at least in the movies. In the old John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynold's films they would get in punch-ups in the bar and then everybody would buy each other a drink. It was a friendly blowing off of steam.
Then that Indiana Jones movie came out where the guy waves his sword at Indy and Indy just casually shoots him:
People saw that and just thought that was much better and much less work. So, they went out, bought a lot of guns and ammo, and just started shooting everybody they felt did the slightest thing to upset them. We had a guy shoot a cheerleader here because she got in his car by accident. He did not shoot her while she was in his car, he waited until she got out, got in the correct car, she rolled down her window to apologize, and this maniac shot her.
Maybe it is just me but every time a cheerleader jumps in my car I just ask her "Where to?"
I like the old school fistfight thing and I am glad they are keeping that tradition in the Shire, but on some days, where you just feel tired, wouldn't it be better just to have someone shoot you? See this is how effective shooting people is over here, not only are there loads of people here that want to shoot people, some of us are just so damn tired of the whole thing we'd rather be shot than to have to deal with the whole fight thing. We just want to get shot so we can have a nice lie down in the hospital or a really nice long lie down in a casket.
Still, I do enjoy a good brawl to get the blood up.
