At this moment it looks like Arnold is the new governor of California. It may just be a protest vote as Dale suggests, or it may be far more insidious as Greg Palast believes; part of a scheme to get Enron execs off the hook in the many lawsuits facing them in California courts.

From my perspective Californians have elected a grade B, self-aggrandizing, semi-educated, muscle and cliche-bound "actor"/serial groper as their new leader. It would be easy to feel smug if it weren't for all the poor people this is going to affect when the "Governator" begins to slash social services to keep his promise of no new taxes.

I also suspect that this recall movement will set off a never-ending chain of recalls. Watch as Arnold's groper history comes to light and the Democrats begin their own vengeful recall movement and we all descend into recall Balkanization. Goodbye Democracy.
