i don't know if it'll ever happen nationwide. i hope it does... third-party candidates don't have much of a chance unless it does, but they do have a chance to affect the outcome. the 2000 and 1992 presidential elections were perfect examples of that.

thanks for putting up that website. there's a lot of info there about u.s. elections which have been won with less than 50% of the vote.

any victory without 50% of the vote means that 3rd, 4th, 5th,.... candidates affected the outcome. IRV proposes to make that effect more palatable to a majority of the voters.

we voted on IRV in state elections here in alaska last year, but it lost about 2-1. few voters were informed about the issue, and informing them was exhausting.

isn't san francisco going to IRV for city elections? IRV, SRB?
