Looks like it's time for a Reg-like post.

*** Here is the test: how often have you heard of someone on the right link the meaning of liberal to "communism", "anti-America", "traitorous", "anti-patriotic" in comparsion to someone on the left constantly linking conservatives to "nazism", "members of the KKK", "Aryans".....and so on. ***

Eric, I have been on this board for a long time and I have never, ever used any of those words to describe you lefties. Nor has anyone else that I can remember. If you hear these words from anyone, ignore them and walk away. Those who use them are idiots and are not worthy of your (our) time.

I've always considered myself a moderate. I like to think I see the good on both sides. I think marijjjjjjjuana should be legalized. But I don't think any other drugs should. I believe in a woman's right to choose. I'm against the death penalty. I'm against taxing the hell out of the rich simply because they earn more. I'm for a flat tax. I'm against big bureacratic government. I'm for term limits. I think the power of the recall is a good thing. I believe in common sense rather than the party line. I think politicians should listen to the people who put them into office rather than lobbyists. I believe people should work for a living. I'm against my tax payments being given to addicts who simply choose to do nothing and burden society. I believe the ten commandments should've stayed in Alabama. I think the ACLU is out of control. I believe most people still have the best intentions for their fellow man but I believe we need laws and law enforcement to protect us from those who simply hate their fellow man.

I may sound like a conservative but thats because I'm constantly challenging the slightly extreme views you and Dan and DeWester come up with. Look at what Brad and Roger wrote in response to David's post. Do you guys really believe ALL conservatives are like that? Those two posts are so stereotypical; the same stereotypes you just complained about in your post. Let's get past the stereotypes. Not everyone one either side fits these descriptions. And if you disagree then you have become just as bad as the stereotypical conservative to just described.

Nature abhors a vacuum. We'll always have two opposing sides to everything; good and evil; fire and rain; hot and cold; day and night; oil and vinegar; liberal and conservative. It's a balance. It will always be there and believe it or not, it's a good thing.

Let's not hate each other or ignore each other just because we may disagree on some things. Like I said earlier, there are great ideas on both sides. Let's listen to each other and work together. We can get a hell of a lot more accomplished if we listen and understand each other. We're in deep trouble if we continue to walk around with our blinders on while we stuff our ears with cotton.

Just my .02.

(Not bad, eh Reg?? Ya wanker.)
