Kent,I, too, am a great fan of Springsteen. But one reason why some might get quite animated when a personal icon like Springsteen is attacked is because we are the sum of parts. To those who understand the attraction of Springsteen, he is a part of us. I strongly disagree with anyone who claims Springsteen is mediocre, can't play or is overrated. Has he put out some dogs? Hell yes. But what artist who has been at this game for a long time hasn't? In Springsteen's career, I examine each album of his as a chapter in not only his life, but mine as well. For example, Tunnel Of Love is a collection of a man's struggle with not being the true and ideal man he thought he would be. I used to smirk and say the song Brilliant Disguise was a cheap song for quick radio airplay. Then I paid more attention to the lyrics....how much profound can you get than, "God have mercy on a man who doubts what he is sure of." How many of us men have not doubted who we are?I could go on and on about what he has added to American Society. And as for him having no voice. Well, I never knew what a good singer he was until I heard his acoustic tour. Wow. The man really can sing. So, tell us some of your musical icons so we can play turnabout.....
