I'm sure I'm alone in this but I think U2 is THE MOST BORING ROCK BAND ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH! If they played half as well as they self-promote then, well....

I found (and find) the memorial for 3000 dead citizens at the SuperBowl half-time show incredibly distasteful. After 9/11 all of our sporting events turned into jingo pageants: singing "God Bless America" at the seventh inning stretch of every baseball game, and those godawful "flyovers" at the conclusion of the National Anthem.

All phony patriotic fervor designed to whip us into a froth. And there was Bono, with the opportunity of a lifetime, five billion TV viewers to witness his heartfelt tribute to the dead. One of the best career moves of his life.
