First, may I say how just tickled I am to witness this whole discussion and to encourage more debates, harangues, and out and out rants.
These are my two cents, for what theyre worth.
A: There's an election coming up. It's an important one.
As of this moment, We have the opportunity to make our choice between
Tweedle Dum (Gore), Tweedle Dee (McCain), and
Mordred, the Prince of The Underworld (George Jr.)
B: If our issue is gun control, how much money has GW accepted from Colt, Smith&Wesson, NRA, etc? And what do those "contributions" bode for sensible gun laws? Grieving parents of the slain make for jolly good soundbites, but
rarely does it occur to them in their moment of sorrow to "contribute" millions to a political campaign, or to build a well-financed political machine, that gift that keeps on giving.
George's family, the Bush family, makes the Gottis and Gigantes of the world look like rank, imbecile amateurs, and have done since Prescott Bush and Himmler tripped the light fantastic in those exciting early 1940's. (See The Trading With The Enemy Act of (I think) 1942) The fact that George Jr. appears to be little more than an amiably clueless frat boy doesnt change the sinister nature of his supporters.
Follow the money. Follow the guns. Follow the drugs. Dont look at the Front Man. He's just there to be cute, say the right things, and get out of the way once he's elected. That's politics. I make the same recommendation for anyone
looking to back any politician.
But these Bush guys.
We can't afford these guys in the White House. We're making progress right now. We can't afford to go back to the days of the S&L scams, the HUD scams, Iran Contra, the tripling of the national debt, the CIA-isation of our metropolitan police forces, the utterly abandoned inner cities, the jingoism, the racism, the disdain for common
human lives. We can't. This actually is one that matters.
Yes, Clinton's a jiveass and a shockingly tasteless pussyhound, Gore's a bore and a jiveass, Alan Keyes a noisy narcissist and a jiveass, and McCain's a true blue Cold War casualty (and a jiveass), but any one of them is preferable. It's not that George Jr. is evil. I suspect that he's not, in fact. But the backroom power structure that he is fronting for is Evil, in the most practical interpretation of that idiot word.
These guys are Bad News. They have enough power already.
We can't let them have the White House, too. (Again) We just can't.
Those are my two cents.
Keep the dialogue coming.
Yrs, and thank you,
